Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales’ latest family Christmas photo appears to have divided fans over a potential Photoshop fail.

The couple and their three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8 and Prince Louis, 5, all smiled in white shirts for their annual portrait.

Louis rested his left arm on the chair on which his sister was sitting, however, it appeared to some that one of his fingers was missing.

His middle finger appears to be completely edited out of the photo, as picked up by some fans on social media.

“What happened to Louis’ middle finger?” one X (formerly Twitter) user asked.

“Louis is missing a finger; this has got to be the worst Photoshopped pic ever,” a second said.

The speculation about Louis’ finger sparked fans to take a closer look at the photo, detecting more interesting details.

“Louis is missing a finger and Charlotte’s left hand seems too long, this is embarrassing,” another observed.

“While it’s a nice family photo, as soon as I looked at it, I noticed Louis’ hand. He’s missing a finger. That got me looking closer. His right leg looks swollen. Where’s William’s thigh? Where’s Kate’s other foot?” asked a user.

“Wow, the worst Photoshop ever! It doesn’t look like them, one kid missing a finger and an extra leg! That doesn’t even look like them 😮,” added another.

Meanwhile others argued that the young prince’s fingers were simply “stretched out” and there was no editing error.

“He’s not. He has his fingers spread out! Two on one side, two and a thumb to the other side,” a fan rebutted.

“His finger isn’t missing … otherwise he’d have five fingers and one thumb,” another said.

“There is a space in between the two fingers. This is not a Photoshop fail,” a third said.

The monochrome image chosen by the Prince and Princess of Wales shows the family all wearing plain shirts and dark pants.

“Our family Christmas card for 2023,” the photo was captioned on social media.

While others were discussing the Photoshop errors, some discussed the future king, Prince George.

“Wow Prince George is going to be a heartthrob like his father The Prince of Wales,” one remarked.

“Prince George is going to break hearts as he grows older!” a second agreed.

“Looks like George will grow up to be a serious gentleman,” added a third.

King Charles and Queen Camilla also shared their choice of photo for their Christmas card, opting for a formal image showing the pair in the throne room at Buckingham Palace following the coronation.

Charles was crowned king in May, eight months after he ascended to the throne, in a majestic ceremony at London’s Westminster Abbey that traces its history back more than 1000 years.

Charles is pictured wearing the Imperial State Crown, Robe of Estate and Coronation Tunic, while Camilla wears Queen Mary’s Crown, Robe of Estate and a dress designed by Bruce Oldfield.

The image — taken on the day of the coronation, May 6, 2023 — has been selected for the couple’s second Christmas card since Charles became king.

Christmas images used to decorate official festive cards are regularly released by senior members of the royal family with the cards sent to friends, family and colleagues.
