DISAPPOINTMENT: PRINCESS CATHERINE OF WALES DIDN’T EXPECT TO HEAR THAT ABOUT HERSELF
There is hardly anyone in the world who is not charmed by the wife of the heir to the British throne, Princess Catherine of Wales. Yet one person has admitted that there’s something missing from Her Highness’s outfits.
Former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld has praised the Princess of Wales for looking impeccable and supporting British designers. However, in an interview with The Times, Carine stated that she thinks the British princess should wear more black outfits.
According to the former editor, Catherine could use some black eyeliner. Moreover, Carine Roitfeld is sure that the wife of Prince William of Wales needs more Saint Laurent, more Chanel, more French. Earlier, the Paris Vogue expert had already commented on Princess Catherine’s style and advised her to be “more rock ‘n’ roll because she is too proper”.
The French journalist also opined that Queen Camilla should give up dresses and opt for trouser suits instead. According to the expert, Camilla is the kind of woman who loves horse riding and walking in nature, so when she wears dresses, you can’t believe her.
Princess Catherine of Wales remains loyal to personal stylist Natasha Jackson. She started working with the Prince of Wales’ future wife back in 2007, four years before her wedding to William. Lately, the Princess of Wales prefers business style. She has increasingly started to appear in outfits from new brands such as Samantha Cameron’s Cefinn and Sezane. However, her long-time favourites such as Alexander McQueen and Roland Mouret are still favoured.
On the fourth of November, Princess Catherine visited Scotland. For her visit she chose a Burberry checked quilted jacket, a high collar jumper, flared jeans and Reiss boots.
Princess Kate has been branded a “disappointment” by a former Vogue Editor.
The Princess of Wales has been criticised by Suzy Menkes over her approach towards jewellery.
Menkes also contrasted Kate’s attitude towards jewellery with Queen Camilla’s.
The prominent critic said: “The Princess of Wales is a bit of a disappointment about jewellery.
“She gives the impression that she only puts it on when she absolutely has to.
“I imagine her looking beautiful in one of those gowns behind the scenes and then pulling a face as if to say, ‘Do I have to wear this?’
“She doesn’t give any sense of adoring jewellery and being pleased to put it on.”
Menkes added on her podcast Creative Conversations: “She doesn’t seem to have Camilla’s joy at wearing jewellery.”
She continued: “We now have a new Queen, so presumably she has a first opportunity to look at the jewels.
“We can imagine that the next in line to the throne’s wife would be something that was very special, so will we see Catherine wearing jewellery that is more dramatic, that is more personal to her?
“I don’t know. I can’t help feeling with things of beauty, you either love it or you don’t.”
This month a poll showed that the Princess of Wales was more popular in the US than Prince William and Prince Harry as she was liked by 46 per cent and disliked by 11 per cent, leaving her with a net approval rating of +35.
The Duke of Sussex was liked by 48 per cent and disliked by 24 per cent during the second quarter of 2023, giving Harry a net approval rating of +24.
The Prince of Wales was liked by 43 per cent and disliked by 21 per cent, giving him a net approval rating of +22.
The data came from around 1,500 interviews conducted between April and June by YouGov.
