Prince William’s Alleged Infidelity Resurfaces: Stirring Up the Rumor Mill

William is reminded of the infidelity rumors. Amidst swirling speculations and conspiracy theories surrounding Duchess Kate, American TV host Stephen Colbert stirred the waters when addressing Prince William’s alleged infidelity rumors on television.

In the latest episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on March 12th, host Stephen Colbert seized upon the latest crisis within the British royal family as the leading topic of discussion.

“The kingdom is shaken by the disappearance of Kate Middleton. Currently, online detectives speculate that Kate’s absence may be related to her husband and future King of England, William, being unfaithful. Oh no, my heart goes out to poor Kate,” the American host remarked.

On television, Stephen Colbert brought up Prince William’s alleged infidelity rumors without hesitation.

Colbert didn’t shy away from mentioning the woman whom internet users accused of intruding into the Welsh family, Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley. With a mocking tone, he mentioned that the infidelity rumors date back to 2019, adding that Hanbury is a former close friend of the royal family who married William’s close friend, David Rocksavage.

“As per those tabloids back then, when Kate is said to have confronted her husband about it, he laughed it off and said there was nothing to it. This is the most common response when a wife accuses you of cheating,” Colbert noted.

The rumor of Prince William’s affair with Rose Hanbury first surfaced in In Touch magazine in April 2019. The infamous gossip account on Instagram, Deuxmoi, even asserted in 2022 that the royal couple’s infidelity was an open secret. Cosmopolitan magazine later screenshot this post and shared it publicly. There’s information that Hanbury was a close friend of Kate before alleged discord in 2019.

Those directly involved have never commented on the rumors. However, William’s lawyer denied the rumors to the Daily Beast, emphasizing their falsehood and severe damage to the royal family.

In the book “Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival” released in late 2023, Omid Scobie accused the British royal family of using Harry’s private secrets to quash the love affair rumors that William faced. Despite criticizing William for favoritism, the American author believes there was nothing between the future king and Hanbury.

Currently, Hanbury still maintains a close relationship with the British royal family. The Marchioness of Cholmondeley attended the coronation ceremony of King Charles III in early May 2023.

Previously, Hanbury’s grandmother, Lady Rose Lambert, served as a bridesmaid at the wedding of Queen Elizabeth II to Prince Philip in 1947. Hanbury has also been seen socializing with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall in the past.

It’s unclear what Stephen Colbert’s intentions were in reviving the infidelity rumors, but this action seems to have contributed to stirring the waters. The British royal family not only faces a decline in public trust but also deals with numerous wild speculations and conspiracy theories due to the lack of clarity about Duchess Kate’s current status.
